TNO

TNO is the largest fully independent research, development and consultancy organisation in the Netherlands. It supports and assists trade and industry, including SMEs, governments and others in technological innovation and in solving problems by rendering services and transferring knowledge and expertise. It provides contract research and specialist consultancy, as well as granting licences for patents and specialist software.

TNO has been involved in many international projects over nearly two decades, including the coordination of EU research programmes for CO2 capture and subsurface CO2 storage in aquifers and gas, oil, and coalbed reservoirs. TNO has expertise across the entire chain from capture to transport to storage of CO2, and was the first European research institution to implement a post-combustion CO2 capture pilot plant at a coal-fired power plant (Rotterdam, 2008). Specifically for CO2 capture, TNO is involved in many H2020, ERA-NET ACT and nationally funded projects to accelerate the implementation of CCUS for different sectors including steel production, waste incineration and the shipping industry.
